Frequently Asked Questions
What's your cost?
Great question, and probably one of the most important questions that prospective clients want to know. Once I get an understanding of your needs and desired outcomes, I can better estimate the associated costs. But rest assured, I am willing to work with any reasonable budget goal to help you meet your needs.
So let’s talk! The first coffee is on me.
What’s the process for working with you?
I like to keep things simple, personable and efficient. While projects and shoots will differ, here is what my typical process looks like:
1) Introductory meeting, in-person or over the phone.
2) Discuss your needs or vision and how I will be able to help.
3) Introduce my proposed rates and a draft of my contract.
4) Finalize and sign contract and I will collect a deposit to secure my services.
5) I will send a creative brief, finalizing the creative details and deliverables of the project.
6) Conduct the shoot(s)
7) Post processing, editing and delivery.
8) Feedback – I always enjoy feedback on your experience working with me and the possibilities of collaborating in the future.
What’s the process capturing aerial footage with a drone?
Since 2014, Transport Canada has set strict regulations for flying a drone or UAV in Canada for commercial purposes. To operate a drone in controlled and uncontrolled airspace, one must obtain a special Flight Operating Certificate (SFOC) from Transport Canada. This further requires pilots to have UAV Pilot Ground School and Radio Operator Certifications, insurance and provide detailed flight, location and safety plans.
Since SFOCs can take up to 20 business days to acquire, any project requiring drone footage will need to be booked at least 30 days before the intended shoot date.
How do you deliver final photos or video(s)?
This is typically done through Dropbox or Google Drive, although very large files may be delivered through a USB or external hard drive.
How long after the shoot will you deliver final photos and/or video(s)?
This is up to you and your desired timeline. Same day, next day or expedited delivery can be done, but with additional costs (keeping in mind, video post-processing and editing takes more time).
Do you charge extra for travel?
Local travel expenses are built into the cost estimate (<50km round trip). Extended travel costs would be factored as an additional cost item and at an acceptable or agreed upon rate per kilometer.
