A BioBlitz brings together scientists, naturalists and the general public to inventory all the species in a particular area over a 24-hour period. In other words, it provides a biodiversity snapshot for that location. It’s a story about discovery, research, conservation and people coming together to connect with and learn about their own natural heritage. I covered the 2016 Ontario Bioblitz at the Credit River Watershed in Mississauga, with over 500 attendees and 1242 species identified.
